The Senior Accountant is a multifaceted role, encompassing the diligent completion of daily accounting tasks such as sales postings and expense management. This position involves conducting initial reviews of financial statements and working closely with clients to ensure accurate financial transaction postings. This role is responsible for executing essential month-end tasks, the Senior Accountant prepares financial reports, including balance sheets, and profit & loss statements, while being ready to address client questions and requests. Acting as a key support to clients, the goal is to deliver clean and accurate monthly financials in support of the Client Service Team. This role requires meeting frequent deadlines, maintaining organization, and providing thorough variance explanations, account reconciliations, and accounting research to meet client needs effectively. Success Factors Responsibilities • Reconcile accounts payable (AP), and accounts receivable (AR), and prepare and enter month-end adjusting journal entries • Prepare comprehensive financial reporting, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, financial analyses, and highlight budget variances • Set priorities and review the work of team members, including payroll journals, bank transaction coding, and month-end journal entries, and ensure staff adhere to best practices and internal controls • Update accounting software with client data and ensure accurate record-keeping • Prepare for, schedule, and conduct client meetings, ensuring thorough preparation and follow-up on identified tasks, and maintain effective client communication • Promptly respond to client inquiries and requests for information within 24 hours while maintaining high-quality customer service • Prepare workpapers, review financial statements for accuracy • Develop a deep understanding of client industries and accounting operations, and contribute to the improvement of financial systems and processes • Retrieve bills from vendor sites and conduct bank and expense management reconciliations • File, pay, and track sales tax, ensuring compliance with deadlines and maintaining accurate records • Assist and support team members with bill coding, client questions, and fill in for absent teammates as needed • Perform additional responsibilities and adapt to client needs for month-end closing and other accounting tasks • Any other duty as needed to drive to the vison, fulfill the mission, and abide by the values of RKL Virtual Management Solutions People Management and Relationships • Cultivate and strengthen client relationships by understanding their business goals, ensuring responsive communication, and consistently meeting or exceeding their service expectations • Lead client meetings with strategic focus, addressing critical financial matters, reviewing progress, and collaboratively setting goals to drive future success • Proactively seek and value client feedback to enhance service delivery and reinforce a trusting, respectful partnership • Promote a cooperative team atmosphere by offering support to colleagues, sharing knowledge, and aligning efforts to achieve collective objectives • Demonstrate respect and build trust with both team members and clients through transparent communication, reliability, and a commitment to ethical conduct • Take personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work, actively pursuing professional growth and being receptive to new ideas and constructive feedback Business Growth • Demonstrate an understanding of RKL's business model, service lines, and competitive landscape • Leverage knowledge of client service capabilities to contribute to the firm's growth and client satisfaction • Stay informed on technological advancements and their potential impact on the firm's success and service delivery Qualification To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
