Fertitta Family College of Medicine at the University of Houston. The VP - Controller supports the CFO in ensuring that the strategic direction and goals of Harris Health System are met. The Controller is responsible for the coordinated execution of key financial activities of Harris Health System including financial operations, financial controls, treasury (debt and investments), and capital structure management. Additionally, the Controller serves as chief financial adviser providing critical financial expertise in the areas of external audit, bond financing, insurance, risk, and related areas. The Controller works collaboratively with individuals at all levels of the organization from the executive leadership to department heads to strengthen the financial position of Harris Health System. Work product directly impacts information delivered to Harris Health's senior leaders, Board of Trustees, Commissioners Court and rating agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the coordinated execution of key financial activities of Harris Health System including financial operations, financial controls, treasury (debt and investments), and capital structure management.
  • Serves as chief financial adviser providing critical financial expertise in the areas of external audit, bond financing, insurance, risk, and related areas.
  • Works collaboratively with individuals at all levels of the organization from the executive leadership to department heads to strengthen the financial position of Harris Health System.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • Master's degree in aligned disciplines (MBA, MS, MHA, MPA)
  • CPA - Certified Public Accountant (Texas)
  • 15 Years of Experience In accounting, healthcare finance.
  • 7 Years of Experience In accounting, healthcare finance, in progressive management roles
  • Above average Verbal Communication (Heavy Public Contact)
  • Exceptional Verbal (Public Speaking)
