The Bovina Center for Sustainability (BCS) is a family-led educational center in Bovina, NY, focused on regenerative farming and outdoor education. For the 2026 season, we are seeking a passionate Teacher/Summer Camp Counselor to join us in guiding children through exciting and productive days of hands-on, nature/farm-based experiences.

  • Term: 10 weeks (Late June – Late August).
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM.
  • Compensation: $17–$20 per hour (commensurate with experience).
  • Location: Bovina, NY.

Key Responsibilities

  • Camper Supervision: Ensure the safety and well-being of small groups of campers (ages 5–15), managing group dynamics and fostering an inclusive environment.
  • Farm Activities: Facilitate the experience of engagement with the farm animals through daily farm chores. Lead campers in projects within and around the food production zones.
  • Daily Operations: Camper check-in/out, and the set-up and breakdown of weekly projects.
  • Educational Facilitation: Implement nature and environmental education curricula, and coordinate activities like planting, harvesting, and forest exploration.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: Prior experience in teaching, childcare, or camp counseling is required.
  • Animal Knowledge: Previous experience or comfort working with farm animals is a significant plus.
  • Physical Ability: Must be energetic and capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions and traversing rugged farm terrain.
  • Mindset: Flexible, patient, and deeply passionate about environmental stewardship and regenerative agriculture.
  • Communication skills: Comfortable communicating with both children and parents.
  • Certifications: First Aid and CPR certification preferred
  • Requirements: Must meet NY State Department of Health requirements for children's camp staff (minimum age of 18 preferred, 17 for some roles).
