Summary

As a Sr. Software Engineering Manager you will lead engineering delivery and system operations across Prior Authorization, TPL, and Population Health, with accountability for endtoend delivery, platform reliability, workforce optimization, and modernization of enterprise systems in partnership with crossfunctional leaders.

Your role in our mission

Play a critical part in ensuring Gainwell is meeting our clients' objectives in important areas.

  • Lead and scale multiple engineering teams delivering applications, integrations, and data platforms across Prior Auth, TPL, and Population Health.
  • Drive an engineering culture of quality, automation, reliability, and continuous improvement.
  • Optimize engineering staffing and operating models (capacity planning, skills alignment, sourcing mix) to improve productivity, cost efficiency, and delivery outcomes.
  • Drive modernization and transformation of legacy platforms and workflows, including cloud migration, APIfirst architectures, automation, and technical debt reduction.
  • Own system stability, availability, performance, and incident/problem/change management (SRE/ITIL).
  • Partner with Product, Clinical, Claims, UM, and Operations to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
  • Drive Agile delivery, roadmap execution, and continuous improvement through CI/CD, automation, and observability.
  • Oversee integrations using healthcare standards (FHIR, HL7, X12 such as 278, 270/271, 834/835).
  • Ensure security, privacy, and regulatory compliance (HIPAA/HITECH).
  • Manage vendors, budgets, delivery commitments, and technology spend.
What we're looking for
  • 12+ years of software engineering experience with 4+ years in engineering leadership.
  • Experience supporting healthcare systems, preferably Prior Auth, TPL, or Population Health.
  • Strong background in cloud platforms, APIs/microservices, data platforms, and DevOps/SRE practices.
  • Proven ability to run large-scale production systems with SLAs and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

The pay range for this position is $108,000 - $155,000 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
