Retail Specialist – Full Time

Are you passionate about fishing, spending your days outdoors, and enjoying the serene beauty of the river? The Thousand Island Bait Store is excited to expand our retail team with individuals who share our love for fishing and the great outdoors.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a Retail Specialist to join our team. As an integral part of our store, you'll engage with fellow fishing and outdoor enthusiasts, offering exceptional customer service and expert guidance. Your enthusiasm for fishing and knowledge of the Thousand Islands Region will be invaluable in assisting customers with their needs.

Requirements:

  • Exceptional communication skills with a focus on active listening
  • Basic mathematical proficiency for transactions
  • Willingness to quickly adapt and learn job-specific technology
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Effective problem-solving abilities and a proactive attitude towards troubleshooting
  • Availability to work weekends and evenings
  • Comfortable handling live bait
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of fishing techniques and local bodies of water
  • Familiarity with the Thousand Islands Region, its waters, and fishing spots
  • Experience with Topaz Gas Console or Keystrokes POS systems
  • Previous retail or customer service experience, preferably in a specialty outdoor or fishing store

Responsibilities:

  • Be the primary point of contact, providing exceptional service to all customers
  • Assist customers by sharing your expertise and addressing their queries
  • Operate gas console, POS system, and licensing equipment with confidence
  • Handle live bait responsibly by counting and bagging as required
  • Maintain a well-stocked and clean storefront that showcases our offerings
  • Perform propane refills safely and efficiently
  • Willingly take on additional tasks as needed to support the store's operations

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • 1–2 years of retail experience, preferably in a customer-focused environment
  • Minimum age of 18 years

Compensation:

Pay will be determined based on your relevant experience and expertise.
