The Legal Counsel - Information Technology will provide legal counsel to Goodyear’s Global IT organization, focusing on IT contracting, data security, and compliance issues while serving as the primary legal point-of-contact for designated technology/business units.


Responsibilities

  • Draft, negotiate and manage a wide array of agreements (including procurement, service, software license, partnership, platform, strategic collaboration, pilot, non-disclosure and testing agreements), including all US and US-based global agreements for the IT organization and for other organizations such as marketing and HR to the extent they involve IT services
  • Work closely on IT contracting matters with various procurement teams responsible for IT, marketing and other functions, with the IT vendor management team, with the Contracting Center of Excellence, and with other attorneys who support particular lines of business
  • Serve as the primary legal point-of-contact for designated technology/business units. Develop and advise on strategies and risk mitigation. Review, revise and advise on IT policies and standards. Provide day-to-day IT legal counsel and support. Support IT litigation/disputes
  • Partner with stakeholders to develop/implement best practices and process improvements for contracting, sourcing, vendor optimization and risk management
  • Develop/Update agreement templates and playbooks to drive cross-functional efficiencies. Provide periodic training in contracting, compliance, IP and other areas
  • Work with IP counsel/stakeholders to implement and execute IP strategy for the IT team
  • Work with privacy/security counsel and other compliance team members to implement and execute policy and legal compliance initiatives
  • Manage external resources and work with outside counsel (as needed) to ensure efficient/timely completion of tasks
  • Provide support for IT and IT contracting aspects of divestitures and acquisitions

Skills

  • Law degree from an accredited United States law school and a member of the bar (no need to be state specific)
  • 4 or more years of experience at a law firm and/or in-house corporate legal department
  • Highest level of ethical conduct and integrity
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal/written), with the ability to establish trusted partnerships with business and legal teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to develop business-oriented and cost-efficient solutions
