Leads and directs engineering projects within Meijer Manufacturing and the project teams involved in all aspects of the analysis, planning, design, development and implementation. Monitors and reports progress and proactively acts to keep projects on track. Practices 200% Safety Accountability – Self and Others. What You'll be Doing: Lead Engineer on capital projects. Performs overall project management: defines scope and project budget, schedules management, construction management, start up, conceptual phases, project closeout, cost estimation, system design, equipment sizing and selection, procurement, installation, check-out, including on time, in scope, and in budget manufacturing capital annual budget plans. Provides guidance to other project resources to follow industry-accepted best practices in project management. Develops strategies and procedures for executing multiple projects at the same time. Develops and implements system design standards for manufacturing operations. Identifies improvements to existing standards using appropriate technical evaluation and involvement. Engineering interface with business leadership team – maintains close working relationship with R&D, quality, manufacturing, merchandising, retail operations, operations leadership and financial operations. Provides innovative technical solutions to meet business objectives with emphasis on productivity. Collaborates with cross-functional line of business leaders on growth and operational initiatives, ultimately leading teams empowered to execute improvement strategies while identifying tools to improve process capabilities, reduce variability, and eliminate defects. Implement improvements to existing standards using appropriate technical evaluation and involvement. Utilize Continuous Improvement tools in order to deliver capital projects that meet all budgetary and performance commitments. Provides Meijer Manufacturing support for Resource Conservation within the Unit. What You Bring with You (Qualifications): Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline. ABET accredited engineering program. 5+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. Prior experience successfully leading multi-million dollar projects is essential. Demonstrated skills in executing concurrent capital projects in a manufacturing environment. Must have strong project management and multi-tasking ability Thorough knowledge of Food Manufacturing Regulatory Requirements (GMP's, Food Safety, etc.) Experience in Manufacturing of extended shelf life (ESL) product.
