DESCRIPTION

At Amazon, we're revolutionizing the world of delivery with our ultra fast speed initiative, aiming to provide lightning-fast deliveries across North America. If you are looking to build something new and from the ground up, this role is for you. We are hiring a Principal Program Manager to lead Amazon Now’s launch expansion and strategy in New York City. This role owns end-to-end program execution across real estate, launch, delivery, and product and tech teams, working closely with cross-functional partners to build out the full operating model required for success. The scope includes translating business requirements into clear, executable plans while navigating the significant regulatory, legal, and operational complexities unique to NYC.

This role requires a big-picture thinker who can assess existing business lines across New York City and similar dense metros, apply proven concepts, and quickly develop innovative, scalable strategies. Strong executive presence and exceptional written communication skills are critical, along with the ability to influence senior stakeholders. Experience operating or operationalizing programs in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and comparable urban environments is a strong plus.

Key job responsibilities
You’ll work in a fast-paced environment and will be required to lead not only at the strategic level, but also tactically day-to-day by diving deeply into business and technical domains. Responsibilities:
Own the end-to-end strategy and execution for Amazon Now launch expansion in New York City, one of the company’s most complex and high-visibility urban markets.

  • Navigate regulatory, legal, zoning, and operational constraints unique to NYC, proactively identifying risks and driving mitigation plans.
  • Evaluate existing Amazon and external business lines operating in NYC and similar metros, applying proven concepts while inventing new approaches where needed.
  • Think big and move fast—developing innovative strategies, sequencing plans, and execution paths under tight timelines and ambiguity.
  • Serve as a senior leader with strong executive presence, influencing VP- and Director-level stakeholders through crisp written narratives, data-driven insights, and clear recommendations.
  • Establish mechanisms, operating rhythms, and success metrics to track progress, unblock dependencies, and ensure launches meet cost, speed, and customer experience goals.
  • Act as a single-threaded owner for NYC launch readiness, aligning teams on priorities, decisions, and tradeoffs across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and comparable dense urban markets.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience
  • 7+ years of program or project management experience
