This position is with the Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Division (Oregon OSHA). Oregon OSHA is responsible for assuring safe and healthful working conditions for Oregon workers through promulgation and enforcement of Occupational Safety and Health Regulations, and by providing education and consultation to employees and employers. Here’s what you will do: As the OSHA Deputy Administrator, you will assist the administrator in the oversight of daily operations of the division and will serve as a member of the Division’s executive management staff. You will represent, and speak on behalf of, Oregon OSHA regarding division policies, program services, and operations. Your duties will include: Directing and managing field offices, the daily programmatic activities of the field offices, operations and administration units Participating in management planning, development and implementation of program policy, goals and strategies for reducing occupational injuries and illnesses in Oregon Planning, developing, and implementing program-operating requirements for the day-to-day delivery of Oregon OSHA services Representing the Division in the area of occupational safety and health in communication with other states, federal agencies, the legislature, professional associations, employer and employee groups, and advisory committees Preference may be given to candidates who have extensive knowledge of Oregon OSHA’s operations For a complete listing of the duties and responsibilities of this position, please review the position description. Working knowledge of occupational safety and health rules, programs, and policies. On average, candidates new to state service will most likely be offered compensation in the lower to mid-level of the salary range. The salary range listed is the non-PERS eligible rate. If you are already a participating PERS member or once you become PERS eligible after 6 months of employment, the salary range will increase by 6.95% and the required 6% employee retirement contribution will be deducted from your pay.
