Reporting directly to the Director of National Sales, the Account Executive IV will assume strategic oversight of a designated portfolio of national client accounts. This pivotal role is accountable for driving all renewal, growth, and cross-selling activities to achieve and surpass membership and premium revenue targets.

In close partnership with the Account Manager, Account Service Consultant, and the senior leadership team, this position will orchestrate a unified approach to client support. The Account Executive IV will collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams throughout the enterprise to ensure the delivery of exceptional service and to maximize mutual success.

This role is identified as a key position in our succession planning strategy, offering significant potential for career advancement and expanded leadership responsibilities within the Sales organization and across the broader enterprise.

Your Day to Day:

  • Spearheads renewal and cross-selling initiatives for a dedicated portfolio of national clients, with the primary objective of meeting and exceeding established territory goals and performance targets.

  • Architects and implements customized strategies that align national client business objectives with BCBSMA's comprehensive suite of solutions, including tailored plan designs, wellness programs, and clinical offerings.

  • Strategically engages and manages relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to drive membership retention, revenue growth, and fee optimization.

  • Embodies and promotes the core values of BCBSMA, actively championing and participating in diversity and inclusion initiatives across the organization.

  • Serves as a dedicated advocate for national account clients and their members, ensuring a member-centric approach is at the forefront of all organizational activities and decisions.

We're Looking For:

  • Proven track record of managing a portfolio of large, complex client accounts, preferably within the health insurance industry, consistently meeting and exceeding retention and growth objectives.

  • Demonstrated professional maturity and business acumen, with the ability to lead sophisticated negotiations and engage in strategic discussions with C-suite level executives, both internally and with client organizations.

  • In-depth understanding of both self-insured (Administrative Services Contract - ASC) and fully insured funding arrangements, with the expertise to navigate and manage complex renewal processes.

  • Exceptional public speaking and presentation skills, with experience leading high-stakes meetings at the board and finalist levels, effectively utilizing technology to create engaging and persuasive presentations.

  • A client-centric mindset with a relentless drive to exceed customer expectations and a passion for securing business success.

  • Ability to travel to local client sites as required to foster strong relationships and manage account needs.

  • Employs a strategic, long-term approach to client management, working in concert with senior leadership to deliver value and achieve strategic objectives.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree required: Master's degree in Business or related area a plus

  • Massachusetts Producer License required (or obtained within 90 days of hire)

  • 5+ years' experience managing complex national clients within health insurance industry

  • 3+ years' experience in managing National / Major Accounts (>1K subs)

  • 5+ years of prior sales experience

  • Must reside in the New England area commutable to Massachusetts based customers

Salary Range: $104,641.21 - $129,643.73


The job posting range is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs and affordability.

This job is also eligible for variable pay.
