Role Description The University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach remotely for the Biology program. Specifically, we are seeking faculty for the following course(s): • Introduction to Molecular Biology (BIOT 601): A thorough grounding in the fundamentals of biology, including a broad review of the life sciences with emphasis on molecular biology. Topics include the basic concepts and processes of cell biology, molecular biology, and immunology. • Societal Issues in Biotechnology (BIOT 640): An examination of current societal issues in biotechnology from several perspectives, including commercialization, biohazards, legal issues, bioethics, and governmental regulatory agencies. • Societal Issues in Biotechnology (BIOT 643): A comprehensive review of current techniques in biotechnology research and applications, including genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics. • Societal Issues in Biotechnology (BIOT 645): A detailed exploration of the business of biotechnology, its structure and operation, and the science behind this global industry sector. Qualifications • Terminal degree in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning. • Professional experience in Biotechnology or a related field. • Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education is strongly preferred. Requirements • This position is specifically to teach remotely. • Materials needed for submission include a Resume/Curriculum Vitae and a cover letter (highly preferred). • If selected, candidates with international degrees may be required to submit a translation/degree evaluation from a NACES approved vendor.
