Brafton is looking for a freelance writer with a background in travel, specifically cruises of all kinds. The writer will produce strong, creative and SEO-optimized pieces incorporated into content marketing campaigns for Brafton's travel industry clients. Extensive travel experience, a background in travel writing and an ability to follow precise directions are required to be considered for this opportunity.

This is an ongoing freelance opportunity involving research, interviews, ideation, and writing.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Research, create and revise high-quality content according to specified deadlines.
  • Work with Project Managers and Content Marketing Strategists to meet our clients' expectations and goals.
  • Adhere to highly specific client checklists for style, structure and organization.
  • Follow specific processes for formatting, SEO optimization, sourcing and content submission.
  • Virtually attend project, client and team meetings.
  • Track weekly writing and editing production work using our in-house project management system.

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

  • 1-3 years of professional writing experience, including travel writing experience.
  • A related degree, such as English or Journalism.
  • Extensive experience with travel and cruising.
  • Experience with ocean and river cruises.
  • Experience with different levels of cruising, including luxury.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with an extreme attention to detail.
  • Comprehensive understanding of SEO and best practices for branded writing.
  • Strong, efficient research abilities and the ability to quickly learn, understand and write about complex subjects.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with a desire to work in a fast-paced, high-volume, deadline-oriented environment.
  • A creative approach to client briefs and content marketing goals.
  • Strong videoconferencing presence for client meetings.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently and in collaboration with other team members in a fully remote environment.
  • Knowledge of AP (Associated Press) Style is a plus.
