Business & Finance Manager

The Tampa Bay Pilots Association is a state-regulated partnership that provides essential navigational services to the maritime industry in the ports of Tampa Bay. The organization has 22 partners, 20 employees, 2 office locations, and the capital infrastructure necessary to provide all aspects of this state-mandated service.

The Controller oversees financial, administrative, and benefit management functions of the organization. This is a critical, high-impact role that ensures the company runs efficiently, accurately, and without disruption. This role is primarily in-person and based at our Ybor City location, but will be transitioning to a South Pinellas location in the coming years.

Benefits Package:

  • Salary Range (based on prior experience): $95-$105,000
  • 100% employer-paid medical insurance policies

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible but not limited to all accounting, financial reporting, payroll, tax compliance, and internal controls for the companies.
  • Ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial data
  • Supports partner distributions
  • Manages audits and regulatory filings
  • Oversees budgeting
  • Handles HR-related financial functions such as 401(k) administration and insurances.
  • Provide critical financial insights to partners and leadership while maintaining compliance with GAAP and statutory requirements.

Skill Requirements:

  • Extensive accounting experience that includes budgets, forecasting, balance sheets and income statements
  • Experience and proficiency with QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, SharePoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
  • Understands GAAP
  • Maritime Industry knowledge a plus but not required
  • Ability to work with 3 party vendors and various businesses in the maritime community
  • Associates degree required, Bachelors degree preferred
