SUMMARY

Hennepin Healthcare has a current opening for an Emergency Medical Coordinator in our EMS Special Events department. This person will be responsible for oversight and coordination of Emergency Medical Responder team members at special event venues reporting directly to the assigned EMS Deputy Chief.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide Coordination and oversight of Emergency Medical (EMR) team members during special event coverage, while reporting directly to the EMS Deputy Chief
  • Assist in scheduling and deployment of EMR team members
  • Inspect, clean, and maintain first aid rooms, equipment, monitors inventory supplies
  • Prepare and maintain EMR team records and reports according to department standards
  • Support and encourage cooperation and collaboration amongst EMR team members
  • Assure EMR team members are in compliance with uniform standards
  • Represent Hennepin EMS Emergency Medical Responder Team in a professional manner at all events at all times
  • Acts as part of a team when dealing with emergency responses including working with HEMS Paramedics, Minneapolis Fire, Minneapolis Police, and U.S. Bank Security to facilitate patient care and transport
  • Meet all expectations of an EMR team member
  • Operate emergency medical equipment and communications equipment
  • Respond to calls requiring additional equipment, or additional personnel when needed
  • Complete documentation of all patient contacts as directed with due regard to patient confidentiality
  • Attends all mandatory continuing education and required safety training programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job related hazards
  • Follows the hospital and department exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens
  • Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment with an emphasis on customer service
  • Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team to facilitate the department's/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives
  • Performs other duties as assigned after appropriate training


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of an approved training program for EMR
  • Six (6) months of experience as an emergency medical responder with a licensed ambulance service or fire department or event medical Team -OR-
  • One (1) year of experience as an emergency medical responder in a hospital emergency department
  • One year experience in leadership role involved in coordination/deployment of a 1st Aid or special event medical response team -OR-
  • An approved equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Certification by the State of Minnesota as an EMR OR EMT-B


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of an approved training program for EMT
  • One year full-time experience as a provider of pre-hospital care in an emergency setting (EMT level or above preferred)
  • Two (2) years' experience in a leadership role involved in coordination/deployment of a 1st Aid or special event medical response team
  • Associate Degree (AA, AAS, or AS) in business, business administration, management, education, finance, economics, healthcare, health sciences, public health, communication, computer science, information technology, or related field
