We are seeking an experienced Compounding Lab Manager to lead daily operations of our non-sterile compounding laboratory This position is responsible for overseeing workflow, ensuring compliance with applicable standards , maintaining high-quality documentation, and supporting a culture of safety, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

Lab Operations & Workflow

  • Manage day-to-day non-sterile compounding lab operations, including task prioritization, and resource allocation.

  • Maintain efficient production flow while ensuring accuracy, quality, and on-time completion of compounded preparations.

  • Coordinate with pharmacists and front-end teams to align compounding priorities with patient needs and prescription volume.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure compounding activities follow internal SOPs and applicable requirements (e.g., USP <795>, state board rules, and 503A standards).

  • Oversee and maintain complete, accurate documentation including:

  • Master Formulation Records (MFRs) and Compounding Records (CRs)

  • Equipment logs, cleaning logs, temperature/humidity logs

  • Beyond-use dating (BUD) support documentation and ingredient traceability

Team Leadership & Training

  • Lead, coach, and train compounding technicians and support staff.

  • Ensure consistent onboarding and ongoing competency training (technique, documentation, safety).

  • Promote a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous learning.

Inventory, Equipment & Facility Management

  • Maintain inventory of APIs, excipients, and supplies; coordinate purchasing and ensure proper storage and labeling.

  • Ensure calibration, maintenance, and appropriate use of balances, mixers, ointment mills, encapsulators, and related equipment.

  • Maintain lab cleanliness and organization, including appropriate cleaning procedures and environmental controls.

Safety & Risk Management

  • Ensure proper PPE use and safe handling of hazardous ingredients as applicable.

  • Monitor and address workflow or safety issues; report deviations and implement improvements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience in a non-sterile compounding pharmacy/lab (503A experience strongly preferred).

  • Demonstrated experience managing compounding workflow and documentation in a regulated environment.

  • Strong understanding of non-sterile dosage forms such as capsules, creams/ointments/gels, suspensions/solutions, troches, suppositories, powders, and specialized formulations.

  • Experience training and supervising technicians or leading a small lab team.

  • Excellent attention to detail with strong documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current TSBP Pharmacy Technician license

  • Familiarity with USP <795>, quality systems, and internal auditing practices.

  • Experience with formulation software or pharmacy systems (pioneer).
