Overview: JOB TITLE: Cloud Network Architect AGENCY SUPPORTED: Department of Homeland Security (DHS) – USCIS OIT Architecture Engineering Support (AES2) LOCATION: Fully Remote POSITION TYPE: Full-time CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT: Must be able to obtain DHS Suitability security clearance, which typically requires 2–4 weeks for processing and must be completed prior to the start date. The project supports USCIS’s Office of Information Technology by delivering enterprise IT architecture, engineering, and solution development services. The team partners across OIT to design, implement, and optimize leading-edge technologies—including cloud, network, Zero Trust architecture, automation, and AI/ML—using agile and DevOps practices. The work enables USCIS to modernize IT systems, enhance mission delivery, and support major enterprise initiatives such as digitization, cloud migration, and software-defined networking. The Cloud Network Architect will be responsible for designing and optimizing enterprise cloud networking solutions across AWS, Azure, and GCP environments. This role requires deep expertise in cloud-native networking, hybrid connectivity, and automation to ensure secure, scalable, and high-performance solutions. The architect will guide cloud networking strategy, define technical standards, and collaborate with stakeholders to integrate network solutions into mission-critical systems using DevOps methodologies and multi-cloud automation practices. Responsibilities: • Architect and design secure, scalable cloud networking solutions across AWS, Azure, and GCP. • Design and manage VPCs, VPNs, Direct Connect, and hybrid cloud networking solutions. • Implement and optimize cloud firewalls, load balancers, and DNS services. • Ensure networking architectures meet performance, scalability, and security requirements. • Integrate automation and DevOps methodologies to streamline deployment and operations in multi-cloud environments. • Define networking standards, policies, and best practices for cloud and hybrid environments. • Collaborate with OIT stakeholders, engineering teams, and leadership to align solutions with mission and enterprise objectives. • Provide architectural oversight and guidance throughout the design, implementation, and transition of solutions. • Contribute to ongoing modernization initiatives including cloud migration, Zero Trust adoption, and software-defined networking. Qualifications: REQUIRED: • 7–10+ years of experience in cloud networking and design/architecture. • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field strongly preferred; Advanced degree, preferred. • Proven expertise in: • Cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) • VPCs, VPNs, Direct Connect, and hybrid networking solutions • Cloud firewalls, load balancers, and DNS • Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience influencing enterprise-level technology decisions. • Ability to design solutions that balance innovation, performance, scalability, and security. • Must be eligible to obtain DHS Suitability clearance. DESIRED: • Experience with Cloud-native networking architectures, DevOps methodologies and automation in multi-cloud environments WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position is fully remote.
