This a Full Remote job, the offer is available from: Oregon (USA) Department Overview: The mission of the Information Technology Group (ITG) is to develop, implement and maintain technology-based services and solutions that enable OHSU to effectively manage information to accomplish its missions. Positioned under the University branch of Business Intelligence & Advanced Analytics (BIAA), this role provides the opportunity to develop knowledge and expertise of data analysis, business/operational workflows and processes to support operational reporting and executive level strategic initiatives. The work of the Business Intelligence & Advanced Analytics (BIAA) division ensures that the informational assets of the OHSU enterprise are leveraged to enhance financial, clinical, operational, and research decision-making. Under mentorship of senior team members, this position is responsible for gathering requirements and acquiring business process knowledge to translate the data needs of the customer. The incumbent will design, develop, and maintain a variety of business intelligence solutions for analyzing, reporting, and providing access to university consumers. This position also provides training/mentor assistance to lower-level analysts. Function/Duties of Position: Solution Development, Testing, and Training • Cognos Analytics. • Power BI. • Identifies opportunities for leveraging existing reporting assets to meet business requirements. • Works closely with other OHSU IT staff to meet expectations for design reviews and coding standards. • Provides issue resolution during Quality Assurance / User testing. • Troubleshoot and analyze data processing failures and data issues. • Work through established processes to resolve system or data problems and communicate updates and status to affected groups. • Recommend changes to data models and metadata models to improve existing structures and code to increase performance, reliability, and efficiency. • Provides technical expertise departmental analysts and clinical customers to improve user experience. • Request migration of solution object through the SDLC process. • Validating and testing with the customer as frequently as necessary to get sign-off that the solution meets the requirements. • Provide training as necessary to the customer of the new report solution. Business Analysis • Data analysis, interpretation, and profiling of source data to identify source tables, data definitions and business rules. • Documentation. Ability to create clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation, including Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), use case documentation, user stories, process maps, and other project artifacts. • Problem-Solving, Critical Thinking, and Solution design. Excellent ability to identify root causes of business problems, think strategically, evaluate options of tools and report structure/format, and propose effective/actionable solutions that best meet customer requirements and aligns with business objectives. Production Support • Respond to requests from Healthcare customers, to fix issues or apply enhancements to existing production reports. • Communication with the customer to get clarification on support needs. • Perform high level data analysis and initial sizing of the work to be done. • Facilitate and coordinate the solution with other groups, e.g. workflow, BIAA and other IT groups, as needed. • Design, develop and test the solution. • Work with the customer to validate the solution and close the ticket. • Coordinate the migration of the changed report objects. Required Qualifications: Education • Master’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and two years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and four years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR • Associate’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and five years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR • Six years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR • Equivalent combination of education and experience where one year of experience will be substituted for an Associates degree and two years of experience will be substituted for a Bachelors degree. Experience • Minimum two years paid work experience as Data Analyst, Data Engineer, or BI Developer (or equivalent classification). • Two years of experience developing reports with a BI reporting tool. • Two years of experience working with relational databases. • Experience with facilitating requirements gathering sessions and documenting requirements. • Experience with authoring educational, user guides or leading group training sessions. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. • Experience translating business requirements into reporting solutions. • Ability to read and explain a data model. • Ability to read, write and maintain SQL Code. • Ability to test reporting for data quality. • Experience planning and managing small projects. • Knowledge of data warehousing architecture and dimensional modeling concepts. • Exceptional customer service skills - both in person and on the phone. • Exceptional interpersonal skills - able to resolve conflicts and to problem solve between parties. • Demonstrated evidence of strong written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to manage competing priorities. • Ability to work independently. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with IBM Cognos Analytics. • Experience developing at an academic medical center or healthcare related organization preferred. • Two years of experience with Oracle PL/SQL coding and tuning. • Conceptual understanding of Data Warehousing and Data Marts. • Preferred Certification: Cognos BI Power BI or arenaflex Fabric. Additional Details: Schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm, or Flexible Work Arrangement. Work Location is remote.
