As a business development consultant for commercial lines, you'll be responsible for screening, evaluating, and recommending new account prospects that are expected to provide a significant financial and/or strategic benefit to Progressive within 3-5 years. You’ll have the opportunity to do this through building strong relationships in the industry and meeting with potential accounts to market Progressive’s products and services. Additionally, you'll partner with multi-line sales reps in the Eastern region.

Territory: this is a multi-state territory covering ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI, NY, NJ, MD, VA, and DE.

Home office: candidate must live within the territory, preferably in MA, NY, NJ, MD or VA. You must live near a major airport and must be able to travel to and meet all prospects within this geographic area. Travel for this role will be extensive and will include frequent overnight stays (approx. 50-70%).
*Our interview process for this position will include at least one in-person interview, if you advance after the phone interview. 
Must-have qualifications 
  • A minimum of eight years outside business to business sales experience or territory management experience.
  • {OR} Bachelor's degree or higher and a minimum of five years outside business to business sales experience or territory management experience.
  • This position requires compliance with Progressive's driving standards and\or policy.
  • This position requires a valid driver's license and auto insurance.
Preferred skills
  • Experience in managing large, complex accounts and knowledge of commercial products and services.
  • Proficient in consultative sales process and strategic selling skills
  • Ability to use formal and informal networks to accomplish goals.
  • Strong skills in building business relationships.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to multi-task, set priorities, and follow up on open items.
Compensation
  • $98,000- $131,000/year
  • Gainshare annual cash incentive payment up to 30% of your eligible earnings based on company performance
